Maia Miminoshvili
Mathematician, Assessment Expert
Since 1998, Dr. Maia Miminoshvili has been actively engaged in education assessment first as the head of the Mathematics team leader at the World Bank Georgia Education System Realignment and Strengthening Program and then as the director of the National Assessment and Examinations Centre (from 2002 to 2018). Her name is closely associated with the establishment of the organization as well as leading one of the successful reform cases in education sector in post-soviet countries. She led the development of new examinations (such as the National University Entry Exams, Teacher Certification Exams, and School Leaving Exams). Under her leadership, the first national and international studies and national conferences were conducted in Georgia and the National Assessment and Examination Centre ran the International Black Sea Conference (conducted in 2006, 2009, 2014, and in 2017). In 2017, Maia headed the board of the 43th Conference of the International Association for Educational Assessment.
Maia holds PhD in Physics and Mathematics Sciences from Razmadze Institute of Mathematics and Master’s degree in mechanics and mathematics from Tbilisi State University.
