PISA – Program for International Student Assessment

The Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA) is the largest international comparative education program in the world. It is conducted by the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) and assesses the skills and knowledge of 15-year-old students in mathematics, reading, and science.

PISA is also one of the primary sources of data used by the United Nations and its member states to monitor progress toward achieving the Education Sustainable Development Goal by 2030.

The ninth cycle of the assessment, PISA 2025, is currently underway, and the results will be published in 2026. Preparations for the tenth cycle, PISA 2029, will begin soon.

PISA in Georgia

Georgia first participated in PISA in 2010 (as part of the 2009+ cycle). Since then, the country has taken part in three subsequent cycles: 2015, 2018, and 2022. The current PISA study in Georgia is being implemented by the National Center for Educational Research (NCER).

The field trial for PISA 2025 was conducted in April and May 2024, and the main study test sessions in schools were successfully completed on May 31.
